Buying and Fabric Information

I have created a collection of printed fabrics, which are designed to work as curtains but also as wall hangings or furnishing fabric. We sell the fabrics directly or via distributors and are happy to send out samples.

Trading Name

Lucy Clive uses the trading name Clivework which is the trading name of Patrick and Lucy McVeigh. All invoices are issued by Clivework which is a UK VAT registered partnership of Patrick and Lucy McVeigh.

Description of goods

Visual representations and descriptions on the web page are as accurate as possible, colour variations are unavoidable between production batches. We cannot guarantee current production will match previous orders or original samples. Colours, prints and designs may vary between each product, where colour match is critical please ask for a batch cutting. We recommend that you order swatches, which are free of charge for up to three; for up to six the cost is £3.00. Please beware that cut lengths of fabrics are not returnable.

Pricing

All prices shown are in UK pounds and include UK VAT. We are pleased to offer delivery of online orders to anywhere in the UK and to many countries worldwide. Products sent by post are charged at current Royal Mail second class parcel rate rates and are subject to change. You will be notified as to the total cost (including post and packaging) of mainland UK deliveries when making your transaction.

We reserve the right to alter prices at any time. It may be necessary to change prices either up or down, from time to time, including any alterations to the rate of VAT. Any price changes will be confirmed to you at the time of ordering.

We may make a mistake in the product description or pricing and need to amend the order. We will inform you of any changes and you may cancel the order and Clivework will refund any money you have paid to us in relation to this order.

Making a Purchase

All goods are sold subject to availability. All credit card and debit card payments are processed by Pay Pal, in addition to PayPal accounts. When your order is placed at our website, credit card information is managed entirely by PayPal, Clivework does not store any of your credit card details on the site. Clivework also accepts cheques or payment directly to our bank account. If this is the preferred method of payment, please send your order via email to  sales@clivework.com and we can take it from there. Send cheques with your order made out to Clivework, through the post to Clivework, Unit 3B Westpoint, 39-40 Warple Way, LONDON W3 0RG. We will use your personal contact information to process the order.
No orders will be sent until the cheque/payment has cleared.
Please note the minimum fabric order size is one metre with increments of one metre, which can be entered in the drop-down dialogue box on the website. If you contact us directly we are happy to cut half metre increments.

Receiving your order

All postage and Packaging rates are based on Royal Mail rates in Great Britain and are subject to change. Special delivery can be arranged if required. To ensure that fabric orders over 8m arrive uncreased and in good condition they will always be put on a roll; this means that they automatically fall into the higher charge band for delivery. EU and International delivery times are made during standard business hours, which vary from country to country. Please note that delivery costs to the Channel Isles, The Isle of Man, Scottish Highlands and Islands are not included our rates for the UK and will be advised by e-mail or phone call at time of order.

Duties and Import tax

All non UK purchasers are responsible for any duties and/ or taxes incurred at the point of entry into the destination country.

Damaged Goods

To our knowledge Clivework will never dispatch damaged or faulty goods. Should you receive goods that have been damaged in transit please deal with the carrier where ever possible. Retain all relevant information and never sign for a damaged package, unless you clearly state on the delivery note the state it has reached you in. Please email info@clivework.com regarding any damaged goods immediately.

Refunds and Exchanges

Returns fall into one of two categories:

1. Damaged or Faulty Goods

We ask that you check your parcels contents carefully on arrival and let us know of any damage or shortages within 48 hours – either via email info@clivework.com or call 020 8144 8300. Clivework reserves the right not to refund or replace items/orders not checked within 48 hours and later found to be damaged or incomplete.

2. Unsuitable Goods

If your Clivework purchase was unsuitable please follow the instructions below:
To receive a refund you must return the goods within 7 days of receipt of the order.
Please note that your original delivery charges will not be refunded. All goods returned must be in a perfect and saleable condition with the original product packaging and instructions where appropriate.
If the goods do not reach us in a perfect and saleable condition and in their original packaging, then your right to a full refund may be affected. We reserve the right to charge a restocking fee of 20% if returned.

Please note that your right to return products does NOT apply cut lengths of fabric – faulty fabric can be returned but fabric should be checked prior to cutting, if fabric has been cut by you (or your agent) it cannot be returned even if faulty.
Goods must be returned with covering letter describing the the reason for the return and a copy of order confirmation email to the address below:

When returning by post, the parcel and its contents are your responsibility until they reach us. The cost of returning the goods is at your expense. This does not affect your statutory rights. We recommend using registered post and retaining the proof of postage as we may require signed proof of delivery. Clivework is not responsible for returned goods being lost or damaged in transit.

Cancelling Orders

If you wish to exercise this right prior to dispatch of goods please email  info@clivework.com  or telephone us on 020 8144 8300. If your order has already been dispatched please follow our returns information.

Please note your right to cancel or return products does not apply cut lengths of fabric which can only be returned or exchanged if faulty. Once it has been cut we will have to charge you for the fabric.

This policy does not affect your statutory rights.

Fabric Information

Clivework fabrics are predominantly made from 100% natural fibres, with no added resins or chemical treatments. This means that when cleaning they require a little more care than manmade fibres. These fabrics can be sensitive to changes in humidity and temperature. Natural fabrics can shrink when washed. Dry cleaning can also cause shrinkage. Allow enough extra material to take these factors into account. Natural fabrics can have occasional ‘slubs’ in the weave and these are not faults but part of the charm of a natural product.

Colour Variations

Colour variations are unavoidable between production batches. We cannot guarantee current production will match previous orders or original samples. Where colour match is critical please ask for a batch cutting.

Sun Fading

All fabrics fade, the face should not to be exposed to direct sunlight. All curtains must be lined and we recommend the use of blackout linings on curtains to protect upholstery from sunlight.

Loose Covers

If using a washable fabric: to minimise the risk of shrinkage, wash fabric before making up, including any lining for the skirt and always ensure that piping cord is pre-shrunk. If using a dry clean only fabric make the cover 5% bigger to allow for shrinkage during the dry cleaning process.

Tight Upholstery

We strongly recommend that new upholstery should be treated with a stain protector.

Curtains

Add extra length onto any finished measurement to allow for any ‘rising’ – see approx. shrinkages below.

Flame Retardancy for upholstery or loose covers

Light upholstery use/Flame Retardancy

– For domestic upholstery please refer to the website description of your cloth, if it is suitable for upholstery use it will have a detailed description of its FR status. In general our fabrics will either require to be used in combination with a suitable FR interliner (ask your upholsterer) or backcoating to meet the relevant FR standards – we can arrange FR coatings to meet required standards, this service usually takes two weeks & there is additional cost per metre.

Washing

Loose Covers made in washable fabrics
Use a cool wash (30°c max) on a short cycle, finishing with a short spin. Do not tumble dry. Shake out thoroughly, then ease covers back onto to furniture when slightly damp. This will allow you to stretch them back into the correct shape & size.

Unlined Curtains

Unlined curtains can be washed (follow the instructions for loose covers above) but undo the hem first. With lined curtains it is better to separate the lining from the main fabric at the sides and hem, as the two may shrink at different rates.

Interlined and blackout lined curtains

DO NOT WASH. Hand made interlined curtains can only be dry cleaned by a curtain specialist.

When washing fabrics, use a powder/liquid that has no bleach or optical whiteners, wash at 30°c and do not tumble dry.
